Folksonomies

I would like to develop one standard list of tags that I can use to catalogue the information I collect. This standard list of tags would then assist in bookmarking sites on Delicious, cataloging snippets of information, and organizing my work tasks.

I was pondering the idea of creating a unified tag library for my disparate filing systems that could also work across the various media platforms (think Pocket, Evernote, etc) in which I store information.

Apparently, these tag libraries are called folksonomies (Great explanation from D-Lib Magazine). According to Wikipedia, a folksonomy is a classification system in which end users (that's me) apply tags to items to find them later. The term was coined by Thomas Vander Wal.
