Rules of Thumb

1. Look for certification by AAFCO
2. Look for meats that are human grade - USDA means the product is approved for human consumption
3. 'Meat' must be the first item. Avoid anything that says by-product.
Wet food has more protein and is of higher quality than dry
Foods to Avoid
onions, garlic, grapes, and raisins, citrus
Try parmesean cheese
Cats diet should be 75% protein
Hardy Meal for Cats (2 servings)
4oz canned tunz, salmon, mackerel
1 hard boiled egg (chopped)
1 fish oil capsule
1/4 cup pureed vegetable
multivitamin

Breakfast

1/4 cup yogurt, buttermilk, cottage cheese
1/4 cup chicken heart, liver, kidney (cooked)
1 fish oil capsule
1 tbsp pureed pumpkin (pureed carrots, cucumber, squash, corn)
1 tsp parsley, romaine, or spinach, chopped
