Victor Morin and Allan G. Wyon (medallist at the Royal Mint) during the 1930s

during the 1870s onwards manufactured by the Royal Mint [Ed. note : one would
have to wonder: was this transaction strictly above board; what were Morin's intentions
in ordering these 'replicas' ; and what was the eventual fate of the medals he
eventually received]

ADAMS, JOHN W.
Indian peace medals of George III or His Majesty's sometime allies. - Crestline,
California : George Kolbe Publ ications, 1999. - 164 p., 33 pl. - this authorative
text completely revises most of the information previously published on the George
III medals awarded to North American Indians during the late 18th and early19th
century including those issued prior to and as a result of the Revolutionary War
and the War of 1812 - including the undated series, "Lion and Wolf",
"Montreal", and "Happy While United" medals (which the author
surmises were issued specifically to celebrate the peace enacted after Pontiac's
revolt) - unlike most of the previously published works on this subject, the author
records the information from a viewpoint which is sympathetic with the Indians'
attitudes towards the medals' historic and symbolic significance in relation to
the historical events surrounding their issue - also included is perhaps the most
extensive bibliography on Indian treaties, peace medals and the personalities
concerned yet published
